Hope is in full bloom at House of Hope!
As part of our residential program, House of Hope has implemented a new life-skills training component into the spiritual and practical elements of our healing process. Research has found that the act of gardening can be a powerful tool in the healing process of those dealing with trauma. Along with providing a sense of purpose, the connection with God’s creation can help ease stress and promote a feeling of emotional well-being.
In 2015, a group of volunteers from Lockheed Martin built the first raised garden beds on the Orlando campus. Through the years, the teen residents and staff have grown various vegetables for cooking their meals and a few plants and flowers.
Over the years, it went dormant. Now, this simple but powerful act of sowing and reaping and enjoying the fruit of their labor in God’s beautiful creation, one of our staff – a Master Gardener, with the help of the teens at House of Hope are helping revive this special project.
We hope to see these gardens bless more teens in the future and provide them with a place where Hope Grows.
If you’d like to donate any supplies or volunteer to help tend the gardens, we would be honored! You may email us for more information at info@nationalhouseofhope.org.
